- Castle Rock Trail: This classic Big Bear hike takes you through pines and black oaks, with great viewpoints that are at their best in mid-October. At the top, you’ll get a panoramic view of the lake surrounded by fall colors.
- Mill Creek Road (Forest Road 2N10): If you prefer a drive to a hike, this dirt road winds deep into the national forest. You’ll pass through thick groves of trees that form a beautiful canopy of yellow and amber.
- Grout Bay & Woodland Trail: Located on the quieter north shore near Fawnskin, this area is full of color. It’s a great place to relax by the shoreline and watch the trees reflect on the calm lake.
